The Way of the Cross

Join in as the kids and leaders of St. Mary’s Catholic Church portray in a live outside performance, the events that led up to the crucifixion of Jesus. This is one well done event. Parking is available close by the church on the side streets or at the City Park. Upon arrival you will find yourself outside the church waiting for the event to start with volunteers handing out the event brochure. The event duration is about an hour. Great for the whole family

Nestled in the quaint downtown area of the City of North Vernon, this holiday event is a must see. Many sites to visit including the Christmas market with unique crafts and food for the whole family, live nativity, enjoy favorite classic Christmas songs performed live at the main stage, parade, lighting of the tree. NEW this year, umbrella sky display. You won’t want to mis this one night of Christmas bliss where locals have stated the experience is like straight out of a Hallmark movie.

Sweet Street

Sweet Street is a spot of local people and businesses who gather in downtown North Vernon along Stellar Plaza to hand out cand during trick-or-treat hours. This event was the highest attended event last year than in years past. It’s growing in popularity, not just with our residents but with residents in other nearby counties as well. With over 450 pumpkins on display, you will want to come see this amazing work. Situated in a country setting on a farm, once there you and your family will enjoy walking through the display admiring the intricately designed pumpkins. It is a bit of a drive to get here but it is so worth it. Take along some hot chocolate, grab the family, pile in the car and make a night of it for this once-a-year event. While it is a free event to the public, donations are welcomed. Pumpkin display starts at dusk and ends at 10PM.

What started as an idea written on a napkin in a local coffee shop has turned in to a community favorite. Many attend this event from all over from other states in old time classics, jeeps, motorcycles or to just come to sit and watch as the night unfolds. This is a blast from the past and it is such a feel-good vibe of community. We encourage you to come out and make a night of it.

Jennings County Fair

Our fair has always been a highlight to our community. It’s evolving and changing. New events are being added. This isn’t your typical fair. Our 4H programs are top notch and always an experience to visit and see the hard work put into their projects all year. Our midway provides opportunities for all ages to join in on the fun. We have some of the best food selections as well, some that are unique to just Jenning County. And our grandstand is always hosting that crowd please excitement and entertainment. We highly recommend this year attraction for the whole family. (Please note that our 2022 dates are still being verified)
