Records, Moments, and Wins - OH My!

So much has happened with the Lady Panthers over the last week or so that it may be hard to cover it all but let’s try.

Post-season play match-ups and brackets can be found on our Instagram channel @JenningsCountySports.

Here are the highlights from happenings since our Center Grover game:

The first-ever and hopefully annual alumni night occurred during the match-up with Greenwood  There was an amazing amount of past Jennings County Lady Panthers who visited the gym, some not stepping in the gym since their time.  I believe the longest-running Lady Panther play was from 1977. Also in attendance were several former coaches who have been a part of the legacy at Jennings County. The picture below is the full crew in attendance, past & future.

At that night's event, Juliann also stepped into the #1 spot as the all-time leading scoring for the Lady Panthers.  In addition to that, during this past week or so she also secured her +1000 rebound mark.  Major moments in her career.

As a bonus, the new #1 leading scorer, played for the #2 leading scorer of all time (Coach Kristi) who was coaching against the #3 leading scorer of all time (Coach Pfeiffer).  You couldn’t have orchestrated a better night for all of this to happen.  I believe I saw a post by someone recently saying that +4500 points are standing in this picture. God’s fingerprints were evident.

In the last few weeks the Lady Panthers have continued their winning streak by beating:

Floyd Central 67 - 44

Greenwood 65 - 11

Columbus East 67-30

Warren Central 70 – 35

And Rushville 69 – 26

Senior, Alivia Elmore

Drives hard to the basket with strength, poise, and athleticism like none other.

Sophomore, Riley Byford makes her way to the basket with tough contested defense in the second quarter.

As expected the top performer on any one of those nights was different from game to game.  However, each team played their best to shut down at least one of the three main scorers on the team.  It proved unfavorable for each team as any one of the three top playmakers rose to the occasion.    And defensively, we seem to have done better in parts but consistently Mc Instosh held to her solid play.

Also during this 5 game winning streak, the Lady Panthers set another record as being the only team in the school's history to hit +20 wins for the season.  Great job ladies!

The next match-up will be tonight at the #7 (IBCA and Sagarin) state-ranked Franklin Community team. They will be ready for us.  It will be a competitive match-up to watch before sectional play starts next week.

These girls have worked hard all season and have accomplished so much individually and together.

This game requires the best version of yourself to show up and play your hardest at any given moment but also in that, you always have to keep your eye on your team.  Know the personnel you have and help them shine their brightest.  This team has proven they can compete at the top level even when not having the greatest of nights.

The momentum is building for a great postseason play.

They have all the workings as players to make great things happen.  I hope that they take a moment's breath to reflect on everything they’ve done and gear up for the moments awaiting them to step into in the days/weeks to come, starting tonight at Franklin.

There is not one team in this state that is more talented or as strong as this squad has proved to be. Have we had rough moments and games, sure but it’s the adversity of a moment that truly helps the gold in a team begin to come forth and shine!

I know this community is uber proud of you and know that you can do amazing things TOGETHER.

See you at Franklin, JV 6pm.
